Job Description  Paramedics and EMTs needed for county based Central Texas 911 system. Fayette County EMS is a tax supported MICU level EMS organization providing emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens of Fayette County, Texas. We are located 60 miles east of Austin, Texas. Our Coverage area is approximately 950 square miles with a population of 25,000. We cover this area with 4 stations 24/7/365 using Paramedic/EMT staffing on a 48/96 schedule with a call volume of 300 per month.  We operate a new 2008 frontline fleet of Frazer Type I units equipped with LP-12’s, 12 Lead ECG, Non-Invasive BP, Pulse Ox, ETCO2, CPAP, and Stryker Power Stretchers and we utilize a 900 MHz trunked radio system. We operate under an aggressive set of medical protocols which includes FAST 1 IO, Rapid Sequence Intubation, aggressive pain management, and STEMI protocol. In addition, we use a completely PC based run reporting and billing system.   We work closely with a new 65 bed hospital located in La Grange and enjoy generous support from our citizens and County Government.

As a result of the emphasis being placed on WMD/Disaster Management we are in the process of developing an EMS Special Operations Team. This will be made up of EMS staff members trained in various areas including HAZMAT/WMD, Rope/Technical Rescue and Water Rescue. In addition, we have recently initiated a EMS Bicycle Special Events Team.

Minimum Paramedic Qualifications
*Some 911 experience preferred
*ACLS
*PHTLS/BTLS
*PALS Preferred

Hiring Process

All applicants must submit a current (within 6 months) Criminal History and Driving Record prior to continuing through the hiring process.

Our Hiring process includes four phases each of which must be passed before continuing onto the next. Our testing process is designed to be realistic and is based on skills and knowledge that an EMS provider would be expected to perform daily. 

1. Written Testing

• General Aptitude Exam (12 minutes Timed)

• General Knowledge Multiple Choice Exam

• Two Written scenarios (Timed 15 minutes each)

2. Interview

• Oral interview lasting approximately 30 minutes.

3. Physical Agility

• This is a timed physical agility assessment designed around skills that EMS providers perform everyday (i.e. Lifting and Moving, CPR etc...)

4. Skills/Scenario Assessment

• Skills assessment appropriate for your level (intubation, King Airway, etc.)

• Megacode and Scenario assessment appropriate for your skill level.
